MP Yonadam Kanna delivered his statement at the Iraqi Parliament session: organized crimes affect our people and cover up theft.
MP Kanna stated that we were surprised by the government’s position on the recurrence of crimes against minorities and Iraqi components without exposing the criminals and finding a deterrent.
“The repetition of these crimes without exposing the criminals or any deterrent measures is a cause for concern and surprise,” said the Secretary General of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, Yonadam Kanna, during a session of the Council of Representatives. He pointed out that this “reflected on the prestige of the state and undermined the confidence of the citizens.”
He stressed that the crimes that affected our Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people recently bear the mark of organized crime. “We denounce these crimes, which are indicative of hatred and organized crimes disguised as theft,” and called on the government to shoulder its responsibilities to protect innocent citizens and prosecute criminals and impose the rule of law.
