DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL YACOOB GEWARGIS MEETS WITH ASSYRIAN INSTITUTIONS IN WIESBADEN, GERMANY

ssyrian Democratic Movement Deputy-Secretary General MP Yacoob Gewargis Yaco met with a number of Assyrian national institutions in Wiesbaden, Germany. The meeting included Assyrian Democratic Organization, Assyrian International Union, Bet Nahrain Democratic Party, Bet Nahrain Assyrian Foundation, and several community figures. During the meeting, they reviewed the following: general politics in the homeland, the situation of our Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people and the Nineveh Plain, including preparations for Iraqi National Elections. The participants exchanged views on the topics in which MP Yacoob G Yaco presented Movement’s views on the situation and future direction post-elections. MP Yonadam Kanna met with Archbishop Mar Emil Nona in Sydney

Secretary General of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, MP Yonadam Kanna met with the Patriarchal Vicar of the Chaldean Church of the Diocese of Australia and New Zealand, Archbishop Mar Emil Nona, in his residence of Poseley Park, Sydney on March 17, 2018. MP Kanna was accompanied by Mr. Immanuel Sada (senior official of the Movement) along with several members of the ADM. he two sides discussed many issues concerning the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac people as well as the issue of displaced people. ADM Secretary General MP Yonadam Kanna alongside Deputy Secretary General MP Imad Youkhana visited the town of Tesqopa (Teleskof). Upon arriving, the Members of Parliament were greeted by Sennacherib Branch Director Marqus Eramya, Deputy Branch Director Saher Kalah, NPU Local Commander Fuad Massoud, along with several of our Movement’s members and local residents. The delegation was given a tour of the town in which they were led to the Church of Saint George where they met with Father Salar Bodagh. They also met with a number of dignitaries and government officials throughout their tour. MP Yonadam Kanna delivered his statement at the Iraqi Parliament session: organized crimes affect our people and cover up theft. MP Kanna stated that we were surprised by the government’s position on the recurrence of crimes against minorities and Iraqi components without exposing the criminals and finding a deterrent. “The repetition of these crimes without exposing the criminals or any deterrent measures is a cause for concern and surprise,” said the Secretary General of the Assyrian Democratic Movement, Yonadam Kanna, during a session of the Council of Representatives. MP Yonadam Kanna received the Hungarian delegation visiting Iraq at his office on Wednesday, March 4, 2018 he Hungarian delegation was led by the Minister of Human Resources, Zoltan Balog. During the meeting, the two parties discussed the efforts and contributions of the Hungarian government to the Nineveh Plain towns and in particular the town of Tesqopa (Teleskof), in which the Chaldean Church is responsible for that town’s project. A delegation from Iraq’s Council of Representatives meets with the United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs

On Tuesday evening, January 23rd, a delegation from Iraq’s Council of Representatives met with Mr. Miroslav Jenca (United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs). Mr. Miroslav stressed the United Nations’ keen interest in the national and religious components of the country, to work for the return of the displaced, and reconstruction and rehabilitation of their areas. He also emphasized on the importance of participation from the components and their role in political and economic fields and avoiding the demographic change that may occur during wars and clashes. Under the slogan “Unity of Speech and Continuing the Struggle to Counter the Effects of Genocide in order to Strengthen Our National Presence”, the Foundational Congress of the Assyrian Democratic Movement was held in Nohadra (Duhok) on Saturday December 16, 2017 for the purpose of Registration with the Independent High Electoral Commission. The Conference was held in response to the Law of the Political Parties and in accordance with the instructions from the Political Parties and Organizations Department in the Independent High Electoral Commission, which called for holding the Conference to enforce the party’s license to carry out its work in accordance with the laws and legislations. 522 members from various regions and Governorates attended the Conference, which was hosted…

Nahla village experiencing continued encroachment on lands; Ninos Odisho presents the case as a violation of laws & regulations.

A group of people from the Kurdish villages near Nahla have made a new transgression on one of the villages of our Chaldean Syriac Assyrian people in the area. The group trespassed on the lands of Keshkawa village in the Nahla area by building a house and an aquifer, and cultivated the land that was overrun. The villagers witnessed the group while they were planting the land, despite the decision of the Penalty Commission in Erbil on 27 August 2017, which ruled in favor of our people in Nahla.
